At The Sonnet at Tennyson, we understand the questions and worries that often arise when a family member’s care needs change and financial circumstances shift. Through Wisconsin’s Family Care program — available here at The Sonnet at Tennyson — families can find comfort in knowing their loved one may continue to be supported within our community, even if private funds are no longer available. Participation is coordinated through established Managed Care Organization (MCO) contracts, helping ensure a smooth path forward for those who qualify.
How Family Care Works
Family Care is a Wisconsin program that helps cover the cost of long-term care for those who qualify, including support with daily living, meals, care coordination, and more. This program allows residents who meet eligibility requirements the opportunity for assistance and to remain in the community when private care funding is depleted. Participation is coordinated through established Managed Care Organization contracts, creating a path for uninterrupted support and personalized care. In some cases, families may need to consider downsizing or transitioning to a semiprivate room as part of ongoing participation in the program.
Space & Privacy
Our community offers a limited number of apartments available through Family Care. These apartments support individuals who qualify for financial assistance, such as Medicaid, and ensure they continue to experience the same personalized care, home-style dining, and enriching lifestyle as every resident at The Sonnet.
Personalized Living
Family Care apartments are fully integrated within the community, with no distinction in services, activities, support, or amenities. Families can feel confident knowing their loved one remains included and valued in every aspect of daily life.
Community Lifestyle
Family Care also offers flexibility for those who begin with private funds and later transition to financial support. This continuity helps ease the strain of financial change, providing stability and reassurance as care needs evolve.
Choices for Comfort
Semi-private apartments are often the primary option available through Family Care, providing a comfortable and supported living arrangement where connection and daily care remain at the heart of the experience.
For families who wish for more privacy or additional space, our Premium Program offers a voluntary path to a private or larger apartment while still participating in Family Care. This option allows families to cover the difference in cost, creating a more personalized living environment that reflects their loved one’s preferences.
Premium apartments are offered based on availability and may not always be an option, so we encourage families to reach out early to explore what’s available.
